„101″

Composition for woodwind ensemble, percussion and sound design

„101“

The number 101 and the eponymous title of my composition have an incredibly attractive effect on me in many ways, especially for this project. It must also have been a special feeling for Joseph Haydn to compose the 101st work of a genre after 100 symphonies. Coincidentally, this symphony was nicknamed "The Clock". The composer Joseph Haydn is the most important musical personality for Burgenland and for the JHP, which is why motifs from this Symphony No. 101 are also quoted in my composition. "101" is intended to represent a musical timeline that describes the path from the music school to the Joseph Haydn Private University. "You can't make an omelette without breaking eggs" is one way to describe this ascent to the summit, with all its opportunities and challenges. Even Mount Everest was only climbed in its entirety for the first time after "101" years. In addition to the essential significance of the binary numbers 101 in our digital world, I interpret this number as a new beginning: New visions are created by learning from the past combined with innovation, willpower and enthusiasm.

I try to express this process and path musically in the composition "101" - with all its ups and downs...
